Along with Hershey Park, Hershey Chocolate World is one of the most visited attractions in all of Hershey. Most people don’t need too many reasons to visit Hershey Chocolate World other than the mounds and mounds of chocolate... but here are a few reasons why Hershey Chocolate World is one of Pennsylvania’s most entertaining and educational tourist spots:
The Tour. Actually, there are two tours. The first, which is free, is the Hershey’s Great American Chocolate Tour. Part ride, part exhibit, the Chocolate Tour brings visitors inside a simulated chocolate factory, explaining how many of the most mouthwatering Hershey’s products are made. The second tour, the Hershey Trolley Works tour, is a ticketed ride through Hershey on a vintage trolley. Along the way, you’ll learn about the history of Hershey and its patron saint, Milton Hershey.
The Factory. Okay, full disclosure: It’s not actually a factory. We imagine Hershey doesn’t want people diving headfirst into vats of chocolate – so they made the Hershey’s Factory Works at Hershey Chocolate World. Here, you can create your own cupcakes, design an assortment of chocolates, or get an ice cream sundae topped with any kind of Hershey’s candy out there.
The Movie. Hershey Chocolate World has a 250-seat theater where visitors can watch their favorite Hershey candies jump off the screen in an animated 3D show. It’s like Toy Story, but in 3D, and with candy instead of toys.
The Accommodations. Near Hershey Chocolate World and Hershey Park, accommodations abound. Anywhere in Hershey, a hotel is easy to find, since the town is packed with tourist attractions, from Hershey Park to the Hershey Bears’ home, the GIANT Center. It’s especially easy to find a hotel near Hershey Park; some are within throwing distance of the parking lot. And that’s not too far from Hershey Chocolate World. Oh, and the best of these hotels have gymnasiums attached, so you can work off that ice cream sundae you ate at the Factory Works.
The Chocolate. You thought we wouldn’t mention it? Hershey Chocolate World might be the Chocolate capital of the world. We say “might be” because we’re giving Switzerland the benefit of the doubt. We’ve heard they have some pretty good chocolate too. But if you’re looking for great products of the cocoa bean without having to take your belt shoes off for the Transportation Security Administration, Hershey Chocolate World is the place for you.
